WEEK FOUR REPORT

The Lip Conference took 3 out of the 5 interleague games this week, and really tightened up both the overall points race and each conference's standings. Randy's Rocket leads the Lip Conference with a 4-0 record, while the other four teams are all knotted up with 2-2 records! In the Hair Conference, only Jo-Boo's Browns Backers have a winning record (at 2-1-1). Week Five promises to loosen things up a bit, as we return to our regular intra-conference matchups.

Feature game of the week
Randy's Rocket (4-0) defeated St. John's Ragin' Amies 92-85. In the battle between the league's only undefeated team and the league's highest scoring team, Randy's Rocket prevailed - barely! It took some late 4th quarter points from QB Doug Flutie on Monday night to lock this up for Randy's Rocket, as they increased their winning streak to eight games. After the game, I managed to obtain an interview with the owner of Randy's Rocket. (Click here to listen to the interview in Real Audio.) The major difference in this contest was Defense/Special Teams play. Randy's Rocket managed to score double digit points from Jacksonville for the second consecutive week, while the Ragin' Amies D/ST Washington did not register a single point. Another key to Randy's Rocket's success has been the lack of points scored against them. After four weeks, they have had the least points scored against them in the entire league.

Here are the rest of the results for Week Four:

Jo-Boo's Browns Backers (2-1-1) defeated Scott's "All they Know How To Do Is Score" Savants (2-2), 106-100. With the win, the Browns Backers are alone atop the Hair Conference, winning this contest with QB Steve Young's backup, Jeff Garcia. Right about now, I am sure the Browns Backers wish they would not have traded QB Brad Johnson to The Fat Bus for WR Rob Moore (hamstring injury). Speaking of bad trades, has anyone noticed the Savants are winless since they started trading this year? Regardless, the Savants posted an impressive 100 points this week in a losing effort. Nothing hurts more than to score 100 points and still lose the game.

White Chocolate (2-2) defeated the Chisel Squad (1-3), 93-83. White Chocolate won this game despite losing RB Terrell Davis for the year and having the Chisel Squad's newly acquired RB Tim Biakabatuka rack up 33 points against them. After starting off 0-2, it looks like White Chocolate has turned things around with their ballclub. Meanwhile the Chisel Squad keeps geting chiseled! They have had a league-high 373 points scored against them through four weeks, but things may get easier for them. Next week they face league doormat T.T.M.F.N. in a game that may end one of these two teams' postseason chances - and it'll only be Week Five!

The Fat Bus (1-2-1) defeated P.O.B.'s Pounders (2-2), 113-74. After a horrible start, marred with key injuries, The Bus has returned wth a vengeance. Scoring a week-high 113 points, they jumped right back into the points race and the Hair Conference playoff picture by pounding the Pounders! Getting 17 points from your defense never hurts, but the real key for The Fat Bus was QB Brad Johnson and WR Michael Westbrook. I still can't believe the Browns Backers gave up Johnson so easily! QB Chris Chandler's injury may have been the best thing that will happen to The Bus all year. P.O.B.'s Pounders have a tough matchup next week when they will face Randy's Rocket in a key Lip Conference showdown.

The Pussy Willows (2-2) defeated T.T.M.F.N. (1-3), 65-63. In easily the shittiest game of the week, The Pussy Willows needed to rely on the inept play of T.T.M.F.N.'s starting lineup to squeak out the victory. After four weeks, The Pussy Willows have two losses - against the highest scoring team of the week - and two victories - against the lowest scoring team of the week. And it looks like their recent trade of RB Tim Biakabatuka (to the Chisel Squad) may have been a blunder! Meanwhile, T.T.M.F.N. is only averaging 70 points a week through four games, which did include a narrow two-point win over the Browns Backers.

Next week looks like it is shaping up to be a very important week for several teams, so make sure you all get your lineups in on time.
