2006 Week 14 Report

It's a Christmas Miracle! In Week Fourteen, we saw the greatest fantasy performance by a quarterback in the history of the league. The Fat Bus managed to earn 47 points from QB Drew Brees on Sunday night as he carried their squad into the Second Round. As the First Round of the playoffs has come to an end, two more teams have been eliminated and only four squads remain alive in the race for the 2006 Championship. There are some familiar franchises still in the hunt for the Super Bowl crown, but first let's recap Week Fourteen:

In the first Round One game, The Fat Bus whipped The Steins, 126-96. Drew Brees was amazing scoring five touchdowns on Sunday. The Steins put up a respectable 96 points, but that clearly wasn't enough this week. One wonders how long they will continue to franchise QB Peyton Manning. Certainly, that strategy isn't working for them. Perhaps they will draft a better starting running back in 2007. Leave the Cadillac parked in the garage!

In the other Round One game, P.O.B.'s Pounders took out Old Joe, 108-92. This one got a little interesting on Monday night as Old Joe managed four touchdowns in the last game of the week. But it was too little, too late. Their starting QB David Garrard managed only 3 points on Sunday, and the poor decision to start him cost them a date in the Second Round of the playoffs. The Pounders were all business this week, as they got scoring from every position and continue their quest for back-to-back Super Bowl rings.

O.K., here is the updated playoff bracket:

Looking ahead to next week the matchups are:

Gold Grill (#1 seed) vs. The Fat Bus (#4 seed)
Me thinks the Bus shot their load this past week. Carson Palmer and Chad Johnson should explode vs. the Colts on Monday night. I have to give the nod to the Grill in a close one. (106-99)

Bush-Whacked (#2 seed) vs. P.O.B.'s Pounders (#6 seed)
This is a rematch of last year's Super Bowl. For the season, P.O.B.'s Pounders has had a stronger team - but I think their receivers will let them down in this one. I'll give Bush-Whacked a slight edge. (95-92).

That's it for now. See ya next week.
