2006 Week 12 Report
There is just one final week left in the regular
season! The playoff picture for 2006 is a bit interesting, with three teams
fighting for two remaining postseason berths. Four teams have already clinched
a playoff berth and three others have been mathematically eliminated. That
leaves us with three teams fighting for the two final playoff spots. Last
week it was reported that if The Steins won their Week Twelve game that
they would clinch a playoff spot. That report was wrong! As it turns out,
there is a way The Steins could miss the playoffs due to a tiebreaker.
For that to happen, The Steins would have to lose their game this week
while both P.O.B.'s Pounders and Schwein Fire won their final game. Moreover,
The Steins would also have to NOT outscore Schwein Fire by 11 or more points
OR outscore P.O.B.'s Pounders by 45 ore more points. Still with me? In
other words, The Steins need to win/tie this week or have either P.O.B.'s
Pounders or Schwein Fire lose/tie this week. If by chance The Steins did
lose while the other two teams did win, there is a chance for The Steins
to still advance provided they can wind up with more total points than
one of these teams.
As fate would have it, The Steins have to face
their arch-rival, Bush-Whacked, in the regular season finale. This is a
game that Bush-Whacked will probably be a light favorite to win. Meanwhile,
P.O.B.'s Pounders and Schwein Fire are facing off against the two worst
teams in the league, Special Team and Jo-Boo's Browns Backers, respectively.
Considering these three teams are all sitting near the top of the overall
points leaderboard, this is setting up to be a big chisel for one of them!
