2005 Week 2 Report

With two weeks already in the books we have three teams with perfect 2-0 records. Three teams are winless at 0-2 and the rest of the squads are sitting at 1-1. There is a lot of football left to be played, but the next few weeks are critical for some franchises who don't want to fall too far in the standings. Speaking of falling, what has happened to The Steins in 2005? After two weeks of play they have no wins, a #1 draft pick (WR Javon Walker) lost for the season and QB Peyton Manning playing like younger brother Eli. Maybe they should have kept Terrell after all.

Here are the results for Week Two:

Receiver U. (2-0) defeated The Fat Bus (0-2), 88-79. The Bus had a chance to squeak out a win on Monday night, but RB Deuce McAllister could only muster 9 points. This team did one thing right on draft night: they selected WR Terrell Owens. But taking RB Mike Anderson in the 3rd round - after they already had franchised two running backs - was the first of many poor decisions. Once again, the Bus is in need of repairs, and we're only two weeks into the season. As for Receiver U., they are starting off strong with two early wins this season, but they look like they might be a little weak at any position that is not a "wide receiver."

Orange Julius (1-1) defeated The Running Monks (0-2), 112-107. In the highest scoring game of the week, one of these teams was going to be left with the salty taste of being 0-2. Luckily for Orange Julius, WR Joe Horn stepped up on Monday night and delivered a 20 point performance to seal the narrow victory. The Monks squandered an explosive day from franchise QB Donovan McNabb who threw for 5 touchdowns and posted 43 points. In the end it was the Monk's weak receiver corps that let the team down. Too bad Braylon Edwards was riding the pine this past week.

E-Z Money (1-1) defeated Jo-Boo's Browns Backers (1-1), 99-61. This game was too E-Z for the village idiots. Six starters for Jo-Boo scored 5 points or less this past week. That's horrible! Not much else worth saying about this game. E-Z Money got the win. Yawn.

Who-Dey Delight (2-0) defeated Cinnamon Roll Nation (1-1), 118-75. This game could have been a lot uglier for the Nation. They needed 30 points from WR Santana Moss just to post a semi-respectable score this week. I guess when you play the highest scoring team for a given week, it's a good time to have your players underperform. And for the Cinnamon Roll Nation, underperform their players did! Who-Dey now looks like a legitimate contender this year, something that surprises anyone outside of the greater Milton-Freewater and Walla Walla areas. We'll have to see if they keep up the pace for the rest of the year, or if they are just blowing their load a bit prematurely.

P.O.B.'s Pounders (2-0) defeated The Steins (0-2), 67-66. It seems as though the Pounders off-season prayers to the Fantasy gods were heard loud and clear. And answered. For two straight weeks, the Pounders have posted low scores, yet managed to outscore their opponent by one point each time. That's some pretty favorable scheduling. On the other hand, The Steins can't seem to catch a break this year. In Week Two, their two franchise players (Manning and McGahee) combined for 8 points. You know what they say... "It's hard to select two franchise players with four hands around your throat." As for picking the #2 ping pong ball out of the hat, perhaps that wasn't such a great thing after all.

That's it for now. I will be back to taunt you all later...
