2005 Week 15 Report

Next week Receiver U. is playing P.O.B.'s Pounders for the 2005 Taunt FFL championship! The two highest seeds both managed to avoid the upset this past week as they advance to the Super Bowl. For the Pounders, it's their first ever Super Bowl appearance. Back in 1997, before the league had established tiebreaker rules, the Pounders were technically still alive in a bizarre three-way Week 16 showdown. However, this will be their first real shot at glory. It's been a long time coming, and we know the amount of effort the Pounders will put in this week to get the job done. As for Receiver U., this franchise is going for an unprecedented threepeat and their fourth Super Bowl ring overall. Last year Receiver U. overcame the odds and became the first ever back-to-back champion. It's hard to imagine someone from the league actually has a chance at three in a row.

Here are the recaps from Round Two:

P.O.B.'s Pounders 78, Jo-Boo's Browns Backers 59. In the first semifinal matchup of Week Sixteen, the Pounders got their second bye of this years playoffs. It's rather easy to win when your opponent sets the all-time league record for lowest points scored in a playoff game. Congratulations Jo-Boo! You proved for one final time this year why your squad was the worst in the league. Taking 3rd place was quite an accomplishment considering the Backers had no talent at any position (and that includes Kicker and Defense/Special Teams). So while we say goodbye to one the smoke and mirrors act, we have to wonder what sleight of hand tricks the Pounders will have next week.

Final Score: Receiver U. 97, Orange Julius 79. In the other semifinal contest we had a slightly higher scoring result. In the end, it came down to production at receiver as Orange Julius saw their four wideouts post only 28 points this past week. As their name suggests, Receiver U. did much better at the position, scoring 49 from their four position players. Notable for Receiver U. was they started Ricky Williams this past week at running back. It was only the second time they started this player, and both times they did were matchups vs. Orange Julius where Ricky found the endzone both times.

Here is the updated playoff bracket:

Unfortunately there is no weekly guest commentary. The Steins won't be heard from again until next August, while Receiver U. is too busy preparing for the upcoming championship game.

That's it for now. We'll have a Super Bowl winning report next Tuesday.
