2005 Week 14 Report

As Week Fourteen has come to an end, two more teams are eliminated and only four squads remain alive in the race for the 2005 Championship. There are some familiar franchises still in the hunt for the SuperBowl crown, but first let's recap Round One of the playoffs:

In the first Round One game, Jo-Boo's Browns Backers tore apart The Steins, 116-70. This was an absolute massacre. Jo-Boo had not scored 100 points all season long, but he has done so twice in the last two weeks. Either this team has just used up all of their Christmas miracles, or we are watching the greatest fantasy Cinderella story unfold before our very eyes. As for The Steins, what can I say about this team that we don't already know? Slapping the franchise tag on RB Willis McGahee was their first mistake, one they aren't likely to repeat next year. It would seem like Peyton may be with this team for several years to come.

In the other Round One game, Orange Julius took out Who-Dey Delight, 101-82. This one was still in doubt heading into Monday night. But after Michael Vick scored 31 fantasy points in prime time, the upset was complete. For the entire season, standouts QB Carson Palmer and WR Chad Johnson led Who-Dey to many lopsided victories and the overall points crown. But when it mattered most, these two combined for just 10 overall points. This is the second year in a row that Who-Dey has lost in Round One of the playoffs, and the second straight year that Orange Julius has advanced as the #6 seed.

O.K., here is the updated playoff bracket:

After a painful Round One elimination, the league's favorite son (ofabitch), the 1/2 owner of The Steins, has declined to comment for the league.

Looking ahead to next week the matchups are:

P.O.B.'s Pounders (#1 seed) vs. Jo-Boo's Browns Backers (#5 seed)
On paper this looks like the Pounders should crush the Browns Backers. But with the way things have been going in recent weeks, you can't really count out Lou Holtz. My prediction: Pounders in a close one! (96-94)

Receiver U. (#2 seed) vs. Orange Julius (#6 seed)
This is a rematch of last year's Super Bowl. For the season, Receiver U. has been the better team - but lately they have some issues at running back and one of their star players isn't performing. Winning three rings in a row doesn't come easy, and it won't come this year. Julius by a hair (105-100).

That's it for now. See ya next week.
