2004 Week 15 Report
|
Next week it will be Los
Tres Anillos vs.
Hawk ‘n' Roll for the 2004 FFL championship!
This is probably the least anticipated matchup for most of the league.
Each of these teams already owns a pair of Super Bowl rings, so the winner
will be the first and only three-time champion! That's not exactly what
other owners want to see - teams collecting three titles before they even
have their first. Hawk ‘n' Roll is attempting to become the first ever
back-to-back champion while Los Tres Anillos are trying to live up to their
name and collect their 3rd anillo (ring in spanish). In the all-time history
of our league, Los Tres Anillos will now be a particpant in 4 of a total
8 Super Bowls - meaning they will have played for the title 50% of the
time.
Here are the recaps from Round Two:
Hawk 'n' Roll 101,
The Steins 84.
In the first semifinal matchup of Week Fifteen, Hawk ‘n' Roll edged out
their bitter rival The Steins. Hawk benefited from a return of their franchise
player WR Randy Moss. Moss went 82 yards for a long score and provided
just enough spark at the receiver position to push the defending champs
over the century mark for the week. Still, they wouldn't have earned the
victory if The Steins had come to play. Suffering first half injuries to
two of their best players - WR Owens and RB McGahee - The Steins
could only sit back and watch the rest of their team try to make up the
difference. They had one last chance on Sunday night to put up some points,
but superhuman QB Peyton Manning only mustered 18 vs. a tough Baltimore
defense. So after scoring a minimum of 100 points per week for longer than
I can remember, the law of averages comes into play and this franchise
gets steined. Bullseye or.... I won't go there. At least not until 2005.
Final Score: Los
Tres Anillos 121, E-Z
Money 90. In the other semifinal contest we
had a lopsided victory by Los Tres Anillos. In case you have not noticed,
this is probably the 2nd most heated rivalry in the league after Hawk &
The Steins. And when it comes to feuds, the only thing that matters is
winning. Unfortunately for E-Z Money they simply don't know how to
manage a franchise. When they traded away RB LaDainian Tomlinson at
the end of October for WRs Hines Ward and Derrick Mason, E-Z Money
traded away their season. This past week, when it mattered most, Ward and
Mason were on the bench. The four starting WRs managed to combine for a
mere 19 points. That's 43 points less than the receivers for Los Tres Anillos.
Good game.
Here is the updated playoff bracket:
Playoff Schedule
Now that the big Steins vs. Hawk battle is over,
we'll have to manage without our weekly guest commentary. The Steins won't
be heard from again until next August, while Hawk is too giddy to put anything
together worth publishing.
That's it for now. We'll have a Super Bowl winning
report next Tuesday. Late.
