2004 Week 14 Report

We are down to the Final Four teams! With two weeks remaining, there are some familiar franchises still in the hunt for the SuperBowl crown. But first let's recap Round One of the playoffs:

In the first Round One game, Hawk 'n' Roll beat up on Who-Dey Delight, 120-87. I am sure Hawk was delighted to see Who-Dey and his band of merry tight ends in the first round of this year's playoffs. He was even more delighted that Antonio Gates was held to just 2 fantasy points, especially considering the hype around this guy in several Ohio neighborhoods this past week. In the end, Hawk 'n' Roll had more points at each position this weekend, and they continue to show they are a postseason powerhouse. Their all-time playoffs point scoring average was 120.2/game heading into this contest.

In the other Round One game, Los Tres Anillos took out Fightin' Priests, 91-87. This one wasn't even close heading into Monday night. But an amazing big game from RB Larry Johnson actually gave the Priests a chance at victory on Monday. Not bad for a backup to manage to score 24 fantasy points. The priests came up 5 points short. The Anillos were outscored 20-1 at the K and D/ST positions, but managed to turn the tides at WR, where they bested the Priesties 47-15. It's awfully hard to win a playoff game when your receivers average less than four points per player. I assume it's also embarrassing.

O.K., here is the updated playoff bracket:

Playoff Schedule

With only four teams left, who better to get commentary from than the league's favorite son (ofabitch), the 1/2 owner of The Steins...

Commissioner's Note: More off-color commentary by the 1/2 owner of The Steins. In case you missed it the first time, the "Hey Eddie!" song is still available by clicking here.

Congratulations to Los Dos Anillos and to Hawk, Drop & Choke. So much for my thoughts on playoff shoot-outs. Gates Delight and Priestie Backups lay eggs in week 14 with some pathetic performances. Round Two predictions:

Los Dos Anillos vs E-Z Lips
Los Anillos will be a bit more humble this week after not scoring 100 points this week and having many uncertainties throughout the lineup. We will have to deal with the Open Letter to the Savants part II this week, but the effect of the open letter is wearing off as E-Z has started to dominate this series as of late. E-Z Poon has never been in a better position. Mr. Kelso predicted an E-Z Money victory this week, but I believe Los Dos Anillos will be playing in the The Steinbowl in week 16. Final Score: Los Dos Anillos 99,-E-Z Money 98. Once again Los Dos Anillos defense holds a team under 100.

In Kelso's Dream match up:

Atlanta Hawks vs The Steins
The defending champ continues his quest for back-to-back titles. As was mentioned earlier The Hawks and their parent team, The Seahawks, have many similarities. Week 14 did not look great on paper for Tony Hawk or the Seahawks but they both found a way to come up with big victories. The defending champ put up a big week to dominate the tight end dominated receiving corp of the Sugar Hill Gang and Rappers Delight. The defending champs have history on their side as they either win the Superbowl or go one and out in the playoffs. Similar to last year, the match ups become very favorable when playing the Steins. The Steins come in very confident and have some favorable match ups of their own except for their MVP Manning who is at home against the Ravens. The defending champ ducked the $1 a point bet last week, but I doubt he will this week. The defending champ would love the opportunity to play Los Dos Anillos in the Steinbowl and improve his 1-2 playoff record against P.O., but the defending champ will have to watch it on TV. A little revenge for the drubbing last year and The Steins move on to play P.O. who claims to have never lost to The Steins in the playoffs. Well they have never met in the playoffs.

See ya in week 16!

That's it for now. See ya next week.
