WEEK SIX REPORT

One thing you notice over the years in our league is that certain trends develop. History finds a way of repeating itself. Week Six was one of those weeks that clearly demonstrates this. Take for example Dawson's Crizzzy vs. TD Taunters. Heading into this week the Crizzy had lost to the Taunters only once in 9 games all-time. And this week the pattern continued as they defeated the TD Taunters in a must-win game. We also had the defending champion Boston Stranglers playing Gimme The Damn Ball!, a team the Stranglers had lost to only once in the five previous seasons in the FFL. Again, history repeated and the Stranglers came away victorious.

Here are the full results for Week Six:

Pooh Bott Helmets (5-1) defeated The Green Party (4-1-1), 90-79. The league's top two teams got together this week, and as I predicted in last week's report, the Helmets handed the Green team their first loss of the year. It is interesting to see how The Green Party performs without one of their top three stars, since Priest Holmes and Ahman Green have yet to have their bye week. The Helmets have the league's best record now and look like a lock to make the playoffs.

Boston Stranglers (4-2) defeated Gimme The Damn Ball! (3-3), 90-78. The Damn Ball! really struggled this week. Their highest scorer on the week was their defense who notched 17 points. QB Steve McNair also scored 17, but overall it was a disappointing week for the squad formerly known as The Fat Bus. Speaking of a fat bus, the Stranglers' Jerome Bettis came up big in this one scoring 21 points. Other than that, this team didn't do anything spectacular themsleves. They look awfully mediocre despite their 4-2 record.

Dawson's Crizzzy (2-4) defeated TD Taunters (1-5), 113-100. This was such an important game for these two teams who both entered the week with 1-4 records. Once again, the TD Taunters found themselves on the short end of the scheduling stick as they played the week's highest scoring team. After six weeks, the Taunters' opponents are averaging a league best 113 points against them. That is insane! I am starting to sympathize for these guys who have just one win in 6 weeks, despite being the 2nd highest scoring team overall. As for the Crizzy they haven't turned the corner just yet. They have some serious work left if they want to salvage their season.

The Savants (2-4) defeated Bullseye (4-2), 105-94. Don't look now but The Savants have won 2 games in a row. Getting 20 points from K Jason Elam was the difference in this game as Bullseye had a four game winning streak snapped. Can The Savants continue to shock the league and win a 3rd straight game next week? The smart money is betting against them, as they face their arch rival Boston Stranglers in Week Seven. That one could get ugly.

Karen's Komets (2-3-1) defeated Corey Dillon The Ball Carrier (2-4), 100-89. Does this game even matter? Honestly, it might in the long run. Considering the records around the league -- one of these two teams might make the playoffs. This week's loss was the fourth straight defeat for the Ball Carrier after having started the year 2-0. Perhaps they aren't starting enough Ohio-based players in their lineup. The Komets are in trouble at this point. Without any consistent WR production, they're going to need their RBs to finish the year strong if they want to avoid the lottery in next year's draft.

Short and sweet report this week, but look for a Special Report to be released mid-week examining one of the sadder stories in the league.

Later,
