WEEK SIXTEEN REPORT
(Super Bowl)

Congratulations to the 2002 Super Bowl champion: Karen's Komets

Super Bowl Final Score:    Karen's Komets 129, Pooh Bott Helmets 102

This championship game was decided by virtually one player: WR Amani Toomer. Toomer posted a miraculous 40 points during Week 17, and single-handedly carried the Komets to the high scoring victory. The Komets were also fortunate to get one of QB Peyton Manning's best games of the season. He scored 35 points, which was three more points than the Helmets' QB Michael Vick.

The Komets are certainly a cinderella story. Nobody picked them to be a top five finisher this year, let alone the Super Bowl champion. They defied the odds, and now own their first championship ring. The Pooh Bott Helmets pocketed a nice chunk of change for their 2nd place finish and earned $300 overall on the year. This year they earned their first playoff win and multiplied their career earnings by a factor of 7! Not too shabby.

After the game, the league was able to get an exclusive interview with the owner of the Komets. Here's what he said:

"Entering this week's Super Bowl, I knew that out of the league's ten teams, nine were rooting against me. That makes this ring even more special. The curse of Edgerrin James has been lifted and Murph is back. Don't expect much from me next year, picking from the ten-hole. But don't be surprised if I win it again in 2004."

Now that Lou has his first ring, he will be expected to show up at next year's draft. Rumor has it that league Treasurer Michael Kelso will be withholding this year's prize money until the Komets show a 2003 travel itinerary. We'll have to see how this plays out.

As for the rest of us, we need to add up our transaction fees and expect to bring that total with us next fall. There is plenty of time and you will be reminded. Until then... have a Merry Christmas... and I look forward to taunting you all next year...
