In all four of the league's previous seasons,
the owner of The Fruit Baskets
has been involved in many matchups decided in the final minutes of the
Monday night game. And in those four years, he has never been on what is
known as the administering end (for
lack of a better phrase) of the "chisel." He has been
beaten by Deion Sanders returning an interception for a touchdown on the
final play of a Monday night game. He has been beaten by Jerry Rice. By
Randy Moss. By many others. He even officially dubbed his 2000 team the
"Chisel Squad" because admitting he had a problem was the first
step in overcoming that problem. Well, folks, I am happy to announce that
in his 5th fantasy season, Doc has administered a Monday night taunting.
Congratulations are in order.

The Fruit Baskets
(1-1) defeated The Savants (1-1),
74-73. In what
was a low-scoring, grind it out type of game (which is fantasy-speak for
saying neither team has any decent wide receivers), The Fruit Baskets relied
on QB Brett Favre to squeak out a win on Monday night. Favre put up
26 points, which included an 11-yard rush in the final minutes. That last
run gave The Fruit Baskets their slim one point lead - which ended up being
the difference in the contest. The Savants had WR Michael Westbrook
playing in the final game as well, but he could manage only 23 yards receiving.
On the final series of the game for Washington, Westbrook caught a 4 yard
pass where he slipped and fell on his ass. Had he stayed on his feet for
a couple more yards, the outcome would have been different.

Here are the rest of the results for Week
Two:
Marshall's Maulers (1-1)
defeated Eighty-Eight, Late!
(0-2), 97-51.
Marshall's Maulers had an easy time this week disposing of Eighty-Eight,
Late!, who managed only 10 points from their 4 wide receivers combined!
For a squad that was supposed to be strong at the wideout position, Eighty-Eight,
Late! looks like they're going to have a very difficult season. The Maulers
look to be in fine form early in the season, and they should have an easy
run to the playoffs if they can keep Marshall Faulk healthy.
NGL©
(1-1) defeated Bullseye (1-1),
103-97. In this
matchup of bitter rivals, NGL©
avenged their early round playoff loss
to Bullseye last year thanks to a last-minute trade. On the eve of their
game this week, NGL© traded for QB Elvis Grbac who
scored just enough points for the victory. Had they stuck with their regular
starter, Matt Hasselbeck, NGL© surely would have been defeated.
On the other side of the ball, Bullseye made a coaching blunder that contributed
to their defeat. Rather than start their Week One kicker, Sebastian Janikowski,
Bullseye opted to play Matt Stover. That move cost them the game. Many
owners in the league believe that Chico made that call -- when it
should have been left up to The Man!
PTP: Peyton's Trailerpark Posse! (2-0)
defeated Dippity-Doo
(1-1), 124-101.
A Fat Bus by any other name would smell as sweet... It seems that changing
their name was all that was needed to get PTP: Peyton's Trailerpark Posse!
into the upper echeclon of the FFL. After four seasons as "The Fat
Bus," this squad has entered the 2001 season with a new name and a
new attitude. Quite an impressive performance they put up this week. As
for Dippity-Doo, they're not too shabby themselves. Both of these teams
look like contenders... although it is very early in the season... and
they do not have history on their side.
Jo-Boo's Browns Backers
(1-1) defeated Corey Dillon The Ball Carrier
(1-1), 80-65.
"I have a running back so damn good that I am going to name my team
after him. Yes, Corey Dillon is worthy of that honor, after setting all
of those rushing records last year. Umm, but I think I'll bench him Week
Two." Is their any wonder why this team struggles on a consistent
basis? The victor, Jo-Boo's Browns Backers, has now won as many games in
two weeks this year than he did in all of last season. I often wonder why
either of these two teams even bothers...
That's it for this week. Good luck to all
in Week Three!
