WEEK SIX REPORT

League owners -- beware! One of our own thinks he is Daniel Snyder, Jr. and will stop at nothing to secure a winning and profitable season. Once again, The Savants have forked over cash money in a deal that they hope will improve their team. This latest trade involved Jo-Boo's Browns Backers (shocked, eh?) who have now run their "trade collection" total to $185 for the year. The Savants received RB Robert Chancey and WR Joe Horn from the Browns Backers, who got $20 in addition to RB Jonathan Linton and WR Wesley Walls. In my eyes, both running backs suck and Horn isn't much better than Walls (if at all). And he's certainly not worth $20 more. But that's a difficult concept to convey to The Savants - who are notorious for judging fantasy players based on their prior week's performance. By my calculations, The Savants have now spent $198 on this year's team (including league entry fee, transaction fees, and cash trades). That's a pretty ballsy number considering The Savants have $0 in career earnings, and we're only at the halfway point in the season. But a team has to do what they think is best, and if spending dollar bills to corner the market on New Orleans Saints receivers (they already have Jake Reed) is what The Savants think is the right move - more power to them, I say.

Moving on to this week's action, we had a relatively low scoring week, and as a result, no team made much of a move in the overall points race. But we now have a four-way tie atop the Hair Conference. Maybe this week's full slate of interleague games will bring the division a little separation. In the Lip Conference, Akili's All-Stars now has a one game lead over the 2nd and 3rd place teams in the division. And with a 4-0 conference record, the All-Stars are looking good to qualify for the postseason.

Feature game of the week
Akili's All-Stars (4-2) defeated The Funhouse Slaps (3-3), 105-87. With a balanced scoring effort from each of their roster positions, the All-Stars took home the victory in a key Lip Conference showdown. By winning, they now have sole possession of 1st place in the division, and look like a good bet to record their first winning season in three years. The Funhouse Slaps, on the other hand, did not enjoy the same kind of balanced scoring this week. After notching a league best 48 points from their running backs, the Slaps could only muster 12 points from their wide receivers. And that was the difference in the game. Next week, the Slaps play The Savants and Akili's All-Stars go head-to-head against Santana's No Randy! TNT©.

Here are the rest of the results for Week Six:

The Savants defeated The Fat Bus (4-2), 112-95. No Kurt Warner. No Emmitt Smith. No 2nd running back. That was the scenario for The Savants this week as they defied the odds and ran the tables on The Fat Bus. WRs Tim Brown and Ed McCaffrey each scored twice helping the The Savants overcome (recently traded) RB Jonathan Linton's 1 point performance. And QB Brian Griese's 25 point week was a nice fill-in for Warner, who had the week off. Despite winning their game, The Savants remain in last place in the Hair Conference. Next week, they play The Funhouse Slaps. At 3-3, The Fat Bus is still in good position to take one of the top two Lip Conference playoff spots. They can better their chances with a victory next week over The Endzone Dancers.

Dirty Sanchez (4-2) defeated Santana's No Randy! TNT© (4-2), 94-89. Without their top two WRs, Marcus Robinson (injury) and Tory Holt (bye), Dirty Sanchez really struggled this week at the receiver position. They managed only 11 points from their four wideouts. Yet QB Rich Gannon's 42 point outburst was enough to make up the difference. Santana's No Randy! TNT© could have won this game easily if their kicker, the portly Sebastian Janikowski, would have just made one of two 30+ yard field goal attempts in the last minute of the 4th quarter and in overtime. By failing to connect, Janikowski opened the door for Gannon to throw the game winning score and give Dirty Sanchez enough points for the win. Next week Dirty Sanchez plays Jo-Boo's Browns Backers and Santana's No Randy! TNT© matches up against Akili's All-Stars.

The Endzone Dancers (4-2) defeated Bullseye (4-2), 94-89. The Endzone Dancers were living up to their name this week, as their non-QB starters notched a combined 7 touchdowns. Their opponent, Bullseye, could only get TD scores from their quarterback, and it simply wasn't enough. Both teams are now 4-2 and share the Hair Conference lead with Santana's No Randy! TNT© and Dirty Sanchez. Although the Dancers and Bullseye are the top two scoring squads in the league, neither one was that impressive in Week 6. I am thinking their next week's opponents might be in a little bit of trouble. Bullseye faces off against Team TBD while The Endzone Dancers meet The Fat Bus.

Team TBD (1-5) defeated Jo-Boo's Browns Backers (0-6), 87-42. We knew one of these teams would eventually win a game, since the schedule forces them to play each other twice this season. The smart money was on Team TBD, as their roster is not half as pathetic as the Browns Backers. We'll see what Team TDB is really made of next week when they play the league's top scoring team, Bullseye. As for the Browns Backers, they go up against Dirty Sanchez.

That's it for this week.
