WEEK TEN REPORT

The playoff picture got a little clearer after last night, as Akili's All-Stars clinched a playoff berth with their Week Ten victory. A win next week against Team TBD and the All-Stars will wrap up the Lip Conference championship. It's been quite an amazing turnaround for this squad, as last year they finished in last place with a 3-10 record and had been eliminated from the 1999 playoffs by Week Eight of the regular season. Apparently, the All-Stars have made good use of their lottery selections in the last two drafts!

Solidifying their playoff chances this week were The Funhouse Slaps - who now need only one victory or one loss by The Fat Bus to make back-to-back postseason appearances. Speaking of The Fat Bus, their chances at qualifying for a playoff berth were seriously reduced this week. At 4-6, the Bus will need to roll over some interleague rivals if they hope to pull off the unlikely. Next week, they face Santana's No Randy! TNT© in what has turned out to be a "must win" game for both teams.

Feature game of the week
Bullseye (7-3) defeated The Endzone Dancers (7-3), 109-57. In what was supposed to be a showdown between the two highest scoring teams in the league, this game turned out to be a blowout by Bullseye - who now have reclaimed the number one spot in the FFL Power Rankings. The Endzone Dancers lost much more than the game as star RB Marshall Faulk underwent arthroscopic knee surgery yesterday and will likely miss 3-4 weeks. Next week they face off against Jo-Boo's Browns Backers who are desperately seeking their first win of the year. Could this be the week they get it? Bullseye's matchup next week is with The Savants.

Here are the rest of the results for Week Ten:

The Savants (6-4) defeated Team TBD (2-8), 118-79. The Savants have now won three games in a row, and control their own destiny in making the playoffs. QB Trent Green is proving to be an effective replacement for Kurt Warner (at least fantasy wise) and The Savants' receivers have been putting up some big numbers the last few weeks. They face a big challenge next week when they play Bullseye, as a win over the #1 team in the league would almost assure The Savants of making the postseason.

Dirty Sanchez (6-4) defeated Santana's No Randy! TNT© (5-5), 106-101. This was an important game for both teams, and it took overtime Monday night to determine the winner. WR Randy Moss managed only 27 yards after halftime, and Dirty Sanchez escaped with their second 5-point victory over Santana this season. Next week, Dirty Sanchez battles The Funhouse Slaps while Santana's No Randy! TNT© takes on The Fat Bus. These games will be huge for all 4 teams involved.

The Funhouse Slaps (6-4) defeated The Fat Bus (4-6), 106-90. The Funhouse Slaps virtually put an end to The Fat Bus' playoffs hopes with this key Week Ten victory. As it is, the Slaps only need to win one of their remaining three games to clinch a playoff berth. In all likelihood, The Fat Bus will need to win their final 3 games of the regular season AND get some help if they wish to extend their season. Rumor has it that there will be some shakeup in the front office this summer if the Bus is forced to take an early vacation. Stay Tuned!

Akili's All-Stars (7-3) defeated Jo-Boo's Browns Backers (0-10), 108-82. As previously mentioned, the All-Stars have now clinched a playoff spot. Most likely, they will also win the Lip Conference championship. On the other side of the ball, Jo-Boo showed some inspired effort this week as they notched their highest point total of the year. If they score over 80 points the final 3 weeks of the season, they might even win a game!

Next week we will have a much better idea of what each team will need to make the playoffs, so check in Tuesday for the detailed Week Eleven report.
