WEEK THREE REPORT

Please forgive me for my horrible predictions in yesterday's Prime Monday Updatetisimo! I seemed to have completely misread how Monday's Cowboys/Giants game would impact our league. But can you really blame me? Who would have thought D/ST Dallas would rack up a league all-time record 19 points and propel my team, P.O. Steve, to the comeback victory over PPP: Gorilla Patch Junkies? And WR Billy Davis was not on anybody's prediction chart to lead all receivers on Monday with 16 fantasy points. RB Emmitt Smith is always a lock to get at least 5 points, right? Unfortunately for Murph - NO. Emmitt's injury limited him to only 4 points, and allowed Scott's...Savants to escape with a tie against Jo-Boo's Browns Backers.

Before I recap the games, let me announce the first trade of this young '98 season. 4th and Joey, NGL© sent WR Cris Carter and RB Gary Brown to P.O. Steve for RB Natrone Means and WR Michael Jackson. There were a few other transactions that occurred last night, and rumor has it there is another trade that will be announced shortly. You can check out all league transactions from the History page on this site.

Here's how this week's games turned out:

The Murph Killers defeated Up Your Butt Jo-Boo by the score of 97-93. Up Your Butt tied a league record for highest points scored in a losing effort as the Murph Killers once again finished with the league's high score. Acting manager, Tod, made two great lineup changes this week to pull out the victory. By switching their D/STand K, the Murph Killers left Up Your Butt with an 0-3 record for the second consecutive season.

PPP: Gorilla Patch Junkies led P.O. Steve by the score of 74-59 going into Monday's game with  P.O. Steve only having D/ST Dallas Cowboys playing. Fueled by Prime Time (Deion Sanders to you Rueff), Dallas erupted for 19 fantasy points and gave P.O. Steve the victory by the score of 78-74. Doc's teams have had a history of losing games on Monday night, but this "chisel" is enough to make a fantasy owner quit the league. With the loss, the Gorilla Patch Junkies fell to 0-3 on the year while P.O. Steve improved to 2-1.

Scott's "All they Know How To Do Is Score" Savants tied Jo-Boo's Browns Backers 56-56. Jo-Boo's Browns Backers needed only 5 points from RB Emmitt Smith last night to steal the victory and improve to 3-0 on the year. But Smith scored only 4 points and both teams now sit with 2-0-1 records. As ties in our league are rare, I have a feeling this game will have an important effect on playoff qualifying at the end of the regular season. Phillips can only sit and think about why he switched consistent K Gary Anderson (who made 5 field goals on Sunday) for K Norm Johnson of Pittsburgh. The Steelers failed to score any points against the Dolphins as they lost 21-0. Another typical Savant move.

T.T.M.F. Little Johnny defeated 4th and Joey, NGL© by the score of 94-46. Once again, 4th and Joey, NGL© came up with a score 40 points lower than their previous week's score and this week they set a record '98 season low point total. Now 4th and Joey holds the highest and lowest scoring totals of this young season. The Johnnies improved to 1-2 on the year tied with 4th and Joey and Rais'n the Rueff at the bottom of the Lip Conference. Maybe 4th and Joey's acquisition of RB Natrone Means will fill their need for running backs after James Stewart's injury on Sunday.

Rais'n the Rueff defeated The Fat Bus by the score of 96-49. Rais'n the Rueff won their first game this year while handing The Fat Bus their first defeat. Once again, Rueff's team showed us how dangerous his RB tandem of Barry Sanders and Ricky Watters can be, even if his wide receivers are the worst in the league. The Bus on the other hand had to go deep into their bench to field a pair of backs this week. But with QB Kordell Stewart scoring only 3 points, it really didn't matter who their ball carriers were.

I was thoroughly impressed with the absence of bye week players from all teams' starting lineups. However, there were a few starters who were about the equivalent of a bye week player. Doesn't anyone read the injury reports? Isaac Bruce...Eric Rhett....Derrick Alexander (2nd time Rueff!)....

Taunt you all next week.
