WEEK TWO REPORT

Week 2 scoring was down considerably from last week's totals. PPP: Gorilla Patch Junkies, plaqued by injured receivers, managed only 49 points. (This record, and several other '98 league records, can be tracked in the new Records section of this website. Click on History from the top menu bar, and choose Records). Up Your Butt Jo-Boo scored only 60 points, while P.O. Steve finished with 74 points. 4th and Joey, NGL© did not fair as well as their 127 point opening week outburst. They scored only 86 points in Week 2, and lost an early conference game with The Fat Bus.

Here's how this week's games turned out:

In the lowest scoring game of the week, P.O. Steve defeated Up Your Butt Jo-Boo 74-60.  P.O. Steve improved to 1-1 while Up Your Butt Jo-Boo equaled last year's start by dropping its first two games. Adding injury to insult, Up Your Butt... found out franchise player RB Dorsey Levens will miss the next several weeks with a broken bone, hinting that things may get worse for last year's 3rd place finisher.

Jo-Boo's Browns Backers improved to 2-0 by defeating Rais'n the Rueff by the score of 116-91. Rais'n the Rueff lost the contest despite getting 39 points from RB Barry Sanders. Ouch! What happens when Barry has an average game? With the loss Rais'n the Rueff dropped to 0-2. The Browns Backers had their second consecutive week with at least 100 points, fueled by two 30+ performances from QB Steve Young.

Scott's "All they Know How To Do Is Score" Savants defeated PPP: Gorilla Patch Junkies by the score of 104-49. This win sets a new '98 record for Biggest Margin of Victory (55 points) and The Savants have surprised everyone with their explosive start. I have a feeling reality will set in shortly, although next week the Savants will play Murph's Browns Backers guaranteeing that one of these two teams will be 3-0 and have the early advantage in winning the Hair Conference. This fact reminds us one more time of why we must always "play the games."

The Murph Killers defeated T.T.M.F. Little Johnny by the score of 120-91. With the win, the Murph Killers moved to 2-0 atop the Lip Conference, while the Johnnies fell to 0-2 This marks the second straight game where Rosebud's squad has lost the game to a team scoring at least 120 points, possibly making up for last year's Super Bowl run where he won the league championship despite scoring the second lowest overall points (i.e. he had the fewest points scored against him all year - 973).

The Fat Bus defeated 4th and Joey, NGL© by the score of 96-86. Once again, The Fat Bus is rolling! The win puts them at 2-0 in the Lip Conference and in 3rd place for overall points. 4th and Joey, NGL© gambled this week by replacing Week One starting K Ryan Longwell with K John Kasay, who produced only two extra points. Conversely, Longwell hit for three field goals and two extra points. If it is any consolation, 4th and Joey still would have lost the matchup by 3 points.

That's it for this week...get your lineups in to me by Sunday morning bye (hint, hint) 10:00 A.M.
I'll taunt you all next week.
